Electric and acoustic guitars have six strings. It's important to know the names of the strings in order to move forward and tune up. Commit the string notes to memory as shown in the lesson below.

Notes are played in between the metal bars called frets. The frets are numbered from 1 (closest to the headstock) to usually 21 to 24 frets, depending on the guitar. To view the strings in action check out the guitar tuner.
