[Minor Pentatonic] Major Pentatonic


Major Pentatonic scale is similiar to the minor pentatonic scale as it also has five notes. This scale however works over major progressions instead of minor. It can also be played over blues progressions and has a country type feel.

Major Pentatonic Scale


The major pentatonic scale consists of the [R, 2nd,3rd, 5th, and 6th] notes of its corresponding major scale. The C major pentatonic scale, for example, would be derived from the C major scale. C Major scale is C D E F G A B C. The Major Pentatonic is C D E G A If you'll play through the notes of the C major pentatonic, you'll notice that it's not as instantly identifiable as some other scales, such as the major scale.
